Ciao a tutti!

A bit about me:

"The greatest danger to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it."

- Robert Swan

Welcome to my e-portfolio! My name is Clare Crenshaw, and I am a senior studying Biology and Earth Ecosystems at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. In Summer 2019, I studied Marine Science at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab in Alabama. This fall, I am studying abroad at the Sant’Anna Institute in Sorrento, Italy, as well as completing an internship at the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area. After completing my Bachelors, I intend to take a gap year for civil service before starting graduate school for Marine Biology. My main interest is in Conservation Aquaculture of threatened marine species.

Born and raised in landlocked Nashville, Tennessee, I did not have much personal experience with marine life, but trips to the Tennessee Aquarium fostered my curiosity in the natural world. To get a closer look at this unseen world, I completed my Advanced Open Water SCUBA certification. I was raised in a culture of volunteers, so I am hoping to use my skills and education to make a positive impact in the world. Marine Science is highly interdisciplinary and is currently a topic of great importance around the globe, so I am looking forward to all of the interesting people and perspectives I will see along my career journey.
